We invite you to take a few moments to meet our faculty and see what's happening in our classrooms.

Preschool -   Mrs. York
Hello my name is Maria York and I have been teaching Pre-School at St. Anthony's since the start of the program in 1999. Before that I taught at Holy Trinity Pre-School here in Streator. I live in Streator with my husband Will and our little dog Maccabees. My daughter Rebecca recently got married and works as an RN at St. Mary's hospital. We are waiting patiently for grandchildren. My son Matthew is living in Belleville, IL and works at Midcoast Avionics as an Airplane and Power plant tech.

I truly enjoy working with the Pre-School children and feel very blessed to be able to work at such a wonderful school. I welcome you to come and visit my classroom at any time!

Kindergarten -   Mrs. Miller
Welcome to Kindergarten!  My name is Mary Miller.  I have been a teacher at St. Anthony School for seventeen years.  I have also taught in Urbana, IL and at St. Mary's School in Streator.  I have a B.S. in Education from Illinois State University which includes Reading Resource.

I am married and have a beautiful daugher who lives in the St. Louis area with her husband.  No grandchildren yet!  I enjoy reading, walking, watching all sports with my husband, and knitting.  I would love to be able to knit socks and mittens which is easier said than done!

Dear Parents and Visitors,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to St. Anthony School.  My family and I are parishioners of St. Anthony Church and reside in rural Cornell.  I have three children, two of which attend St. Anthony's, and my eldest is at Marquette High School.  This is my fifth year of teaching at St. Anthony, and my third year of teaching second grade.  I truly enjoy second grade!

Third Grade -   Mrs. Durdan
I am a lifetime member of the Streator community having attended Catholic grade school at St. Stephen School and graduating from Streator High School.  I then attended and graduated with a teaching degree from ISU and have been an educator for 25 years.  The 2009-2010 school year is my 23rd year at SAS.  My two sons are graduates of SAS and Streator High School.  They are now in college.  My husband is a local business owner and also a lifetime resident of Streator.

Fourth Grade -   Mrs.  Graves

Sixth Grade -   Mrs. Kohn

Seventh Grade -   Mrs. Deobler

This is my eleventh year at St. Anthony School; I teach 5th through 8th Language Arts and 7th Literature. I have two Bachelor’s degrees. I graduated with high honors from the University of Illinois in Champaign when I was in my 20s. I went back to school for my education degree when my children were in school. I graduated with high honors from Illinois State University, and I have been very blessed to teach the subjects I love most here at SAS.

I also love my Catholic Faith and have studied it and tried to live it from my childhood. I have taught CCD over 15 years, most of that at St. Patrick’s in Ottawa, my home parish. I try to share my love of Catholicism and pass it on to my students at every opportunity. I love being at a Catholic school so I can do that.

I live in Ottawa with my husband, Eric, an attorney. We have two adult daughters, a wonderful son-in-law, and two grandsons, ages 4 and 8. I love being with my family, watching pro football (especially the Bears), reading, and studying my Faith, especially Scripture. I also love St. Anthony School, the students, and all the people with whom I work.

Eighth Grade -   Ms. Brockman
I am a Dwight native having graduated from Dwight Grade and Township High Schools.  I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Music Education in 1981.  I hold both K-9 and 6-12 teaching certificates with several endorsements including Language Arts and Social Studies.  The 2009 – 2010 school year is my twenty-fifth year in education.  I spent one year substitute teaching, seven years teaching on Fort Hood, TX and am in my seventeenth year at St. Anthony School.

My family and I are members of St. Anthony Parish.  My husband, Steve, is currently the principal of Peru Catholic and has been in Catholic Education for the last seven years.  We have three children.  Molly and Kate are graduates of St. Anthony School.  Molly graduated from Marquette High School and is currently a student at Western Illinois University.  Kate is a senior at Streator High School.  Last but not least is Sean, who is a fifth grade student at St. Anthony.

I continue to feel privileged to interact with all the students and their families on a daily basis at St. Anthony School.
